New! Mirka Ultimax® Ligno

With Ultimax® Ligno, Mirka has created a unique, all-new abrasive. A blend of premium abrasive grains are imprinted in an hourglass pattern onto latex impregnated paper, ensuring optimal sanding results and durability. Multifit™ hole patterns provide efficient dust extraction, and an environmentally friendly production process brings multiple benefits.

Selected out of 64 different designs, the hourglass pattern ensures optimal cutting performance with consistent results. The segmented surface increases sanding pressure on each abrasive grain and creates channels for dust to flow to the extraction holes. Each segment has four sharp corners and two angled surfaces. Blue-fired aluminum oxide grains offer long-lasting hardness and uniform grain size, while ceramic grains are self-sharpening, creating additional cutting edges during sanding.

With Ultimax Ligno, Mirka uses a specially developed latex impregnated paper to improve flexibility and grain adhesion and to minimize edgewear, providing each abrasive with a long service life. It is available in a wide range of grits from 40 to 400.

To resist clogging and speed up the cutting process, Ultimax Ligno utilizes Mirka’s groundbreaking Multifit hole pattern. Dust channels lead directly to extraction holes to efficiently remove dust, keeping the abrasive grains cutting. As air circulates under the abrasive it reduces heat - an important benefit when sanding wood – which stops the dust from turning into a clogging putty. Even large wood particles flow without issue, thanks to the different widths in the dust channels.

Ultimax Ligno was designed with Mirka’s dust free sanding technology from the start, reducing exposure to wood dust, a significant occupational health risk.

Mirka’s precise, energy saving production process takes sustainability into focus. Using fewer harmful chemicals, it also creates less material waste.
